From the PASTOR'S PEN Sunday MAY 18,2008
What a privilege
you and I have to be able to come to church and worship our Lord and Saviour freely. This is not a possibility in many countries.
Of course, there are pockets of Christianity even in the most hostile of places. You see, God is building His Church, and
the Bible declares unto us from the very words of our Lord in Matthew 16:18, “And I say also unto thee, That thou art
Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not
prevail against it.” The Lord Jesus Christ will build His Church. Nothing will prevent it. Isn’t it great
to be a part of His “team” working in His fields, bringing in the harvest of lost souls? You and I have great
responsibilities to work hard for the Lord.
We are very thankful
to have Brother Trent Baker as our latest addition to our fellowship here at Providence. He and his wife, Whitney, are wonderful folks.
Please make them both welcome.
In just a few short days a new sign will be installed out front for our church. Brother
Billy Smith is doing the design and installation work. Thank him for his help in “getting the job done.”
As we begin this
new week may the great God of Heaven continue to bless us as we continue to serve Him.
Please do take
a few moments to ask for the Lord’s blessings upon our services. Ask for His Holy Spirit be present as we open the Book
and learn of Him. Then search your heart and correct any difficulties you may find. Confess sin to the Lord and ask for forgiveness.
Now, let us worship.
