A Letter from Mary Ellen

Sept 2004 --

Today will be my last visit to the Anandaban Hospital for 6 weeks. However, the children will be able to visit while I am in the states. This day was special in that there were so many of us & that we were able to go through the hospital and speak with more patients than we had in the past.

The other children and myself ministered to the patients by serving their morning meal for them & assisting with any needs, clothes washing, hair combing, and fellowshipping with the patients. We were able to provide yarn for Mrs. Maisimi Tamang who has been at the hospital for 30 years. She sits daily ministering to other patients and knitting sweaters for folks. We also were able to provide 2. pairs of reading glasses to 2 of the patients. The funds given to us helps us to minister to the needs of these patients.

The hearts of the patients are so joyful when they have the opportunity to sing Nepali songs with our children. One of the many things the children do well is their love of music. They love to sing and sing loud.

We are thankful for the opportunity once more to be able to serve and be a light to the folks around us. All through our squashed bus rides to our long walk from the hospital to the bus stop in Chapaguan, we are able to have fun.

Since we are in monsoon season, our walk home proved to be muddy. We took advantage of the mud to splash each other and make each other a mess. Some of the boys and girls, myself included, had varying degrees of mud from head to toe. All in all it was fun and we all look forward to walking this walk together again.

Thank you to everyone for your help and support!

Mary Ellen Petini, Kathnzandu Nepal
