LION Reading Project

LION (Literacy In Our Neighborhood) is a cooperative project with the Lyon Park Headstart to read to preschool children.  Volunteers spend just one hour per week reading to 3-4-year-olds. Some volunteers use dance or art to engage young minds. Children are given books as part of the project .

The activity this year included books given to 119 students. Students were also given a reusable grocery bag to encourage reuse and recycling to protect our environment. Preschoolers and staff were also treated to fruit bars.
