Inner prosperity in hard financial times
God of mercy, swift to help us,
as our lips pour forth your praise,
fill our hearts with the peace
you give
to those who wait for your salvation
in Jesus Christ our Lord.
This prayer at the conclusion of Psalm 119 (Book of Common Worship) is an apt petition for those anxious
about the economy and what its impact will be upon them. How long will we have to wait for the penultimate salvation God has
in store for us? The help will not likely be as swift as we like, judging from the world's markets. It's time to work on a
prosperity of the soul.
