| A water-damaged wall |
In
August 2007, Trinity undertook a capital campaign to restore and preserve its
now 125 year-old church building and to refurbish its well-used parish hall. We call the campaign, "More
than we can ask or imagine," referring to Ephesians 3:20.
In
some respects, $211,000 does seem more than we can ask or imagine. We are a church of less than 150 active communicants, and
many of us are -- how shall we say? -- gray. But we care for the beauty in which we worship, however tarnished
by age. And we are thoroughly committed to maintaining an Anglican ethos and outreach in our community.
On September 28, 2008,
we celebrated and dedicated the installation of a new red metal roof, new carpeting in the parish hall, and new tiling in
our entrances and on our steps and landings. We are grateful for the generous support of the community, as well as for our
parish's response. We have been able to accomplish this much without taking out a loan!
Work remains to be done,
however -- as you can see at left and in the photo above.
