About Us
Chapel of Roses Funeral Home is Irving's newest funeral home which opened
in August of 2007. We are family-owned and operated by the Chism & Crouch Families. Our families have a long-standing
commitment to serving the City of Irving and its surrounding communities.
Harrell & Dixie Chism moved to Irving in 1964 purchasing Irving's oldest funeral
home from the R. V. Leach family. The Chism family owned and operated Chism & Smith Funeral Home until 1995
when they sold the funeral home to a corporation. Their daughter, Charlotte, was the manager and funeral director at
the funeral home until December of 2000. The Chism family then began ties with Calvary Funeral Home until the completion
of our new facility. Our family has been honored to serve some of Irving's oldest families through the years.
Over the years we have served the families of Irving Police Department's fallen officers, many families of fallen soldiers
and we will have services for all cultures and faiths.
The Chism family joined in partnership with the M. J. Crouch family. M. J.
Crouch (Red) is the son of Joe I. Crouch and Rosa Lee Looper. The Crouch family has ties to Irving that date back to
before the Civil War. The Crouch family settled in what was called the Shady Grove Community of Irving where they owned
a large farm. The Looper family settled on the banks of the Trinity River in the late 1800's. Rosa Lee's grandfather,
John Looper was a surveyor for the railroad being brought through Irving. The new funeral home was built on the Loopers
family farm. Our families named the funeral home after Rosa Lee Crouch. This family has seen Irving grow from
a small railroad town to a large suburb of the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex.
Our two families joined together to build Chapel of Roses Funeral Home so we could
continue the commitment of serving the community of Irving with dignity, respect and compassion.
