Mission
The Rebuilding Together Greater Haverhill brings volunteers and communities together to
improve the homes and lives of low-income homeowners. Our mission is to “To preserve and revitalize houses and communities
assuring that low-income homeowners, particularly those who are elderly, disabled or families with children live in warmth,
safety and independence”. Although our organization is inclusive of everyone,
regardless of age, gender, religion or ethnicity, we recognize the need in the greater Haverhill region to focus our
resources on assisting the elder population.
History
Rebuilding Together Greater Haverhill,
Inc. is a local 501(c)(3) tax exempt affiliate of Rebuilding Together, Inc., the nation's leading organization
bringing volunteers and communities together to improve the homes and lives of low-income homeowners. Rebuilding Together was incorporated locally in 1991, and held the first Rebuilding Day
in Haverhill in April of 1992. Since then, more than 1500 skilled and unskilled volunteers have performed hundreds of successful
building rehabilitation, accessibility modification and energy efficiency projects to more than 400 homes worth a market value
of more than $1.5 million.
What We Do
Rebuilding Together Greater Haverhill, Inc. is a non-profit that provides
free home repair, accessibility modification and energy conservation services for low-income greater Haverhill homeowners,
particularly the elderly, people living with disabilities and families with children.
Programs
National Rebuilding Day: On the last Saturday in April, more than 400 volunteers gather to provide home repair,
accessibility, modification, and energy conservation services for low-income
greater Haverhill homeowners. Volunteer skill levels range from trades people to weekend warriors.
Emergency Home Repair: Through out the year, critical home repair or accessibility modifications are completed
for low-income Greater Haverhill homeowners, utilizing a combination of paid contractors and volunteers.
Special Events: Corporate sponsors have an opportunity to bring together employees for a unique
team-building experience while making a difference in the life of a low-income greater Haverhill homeowner. Projects are selected
to match the skill set of the volunteer team and supplemented by skilled trade people as required. Sponsorships for our golf
tournament fundraisers are also available.
Home Maintenance Education: Rebuilding Together produces a series of home maintenance workshops that teach basic home repair
skills while building participants’ knowledge about the systems in a home and the art of hiring contractors. RT Greater
Haverhill is also a regional resource for "Energy Efficiency" training.
How You Can Help
Volunteer:
- Skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled volunteers needed to provide home
repair services for National Rebuilding Day and special events throughout the year.
- Licensed contractors needed to provide emergency home repairs. Materials
supplied by Rebuilding Together, but we need your time and talents.
- Volunteers needed to serve on program/governance committees or behind-the-scenes
activities such as volunteer registration, food services and office support.
- Volunteers familiar with home repairs needed to teach home repair workshops
to Greater Haverhill homeowners.
