Information about Influenza Vaccine Appointments
The American Academy of Pediatrics and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention is now recommending
that all children ages 6 months to 18 years get both the seasonal and the H1N1 influenza vaccines. We will be offering both the intranasal
(FluMist) as well as the injectable type of vaccine for both seasonal and H1N1 as they become available. All of our influenza vaccines are expected
to be both preservative and thimerosal free. Information about intranasal influenza vaccines is available at
www.FluMist.com. Your child may receive both vaccines at the same time if
getting both injectable or one injectable and one intranasal. If your child has already received the intranasal seasonal flu vaccine, the H1N1 vaccine
cannot be given until 4 weeks later.
For your convenience, we will be holding flu clinics on Thursdays from 2-4 pm starting October 15th. We will be having an additional flu clinic
on Tuesday, October 27th from 3 pm to 6:30 pm. Please call to schedule an appointment.
Please be advised that Dr. Irvine will NOT be available for sick visit appointments during these times. If you are unsure if
your child is well enough to receive the flu vaccine, please call and schedule a sick appointment during regular office hours.
If neither of these times is convenient for you, we will be offering more clinics in November as the rest of
our ordered influenza vaccine becomes available. If you have a well child visit already scheduled, we can also give the vaccine at that appointment.
