Nine years
Today is the 9th wedding anniversary for Maggie and me. Wow, nine years, huh? I seem to be saying this a lot lately,
but wow, time flies! Anyway, it's been a great nine years.
I completed the St Louis Marathon about a week and a half ago, and it went as well as I could have hoped! My finish time was 3:50:04, which is almost
exactly what I predicted for myself in my last post. I wrote up a Race Report, which can be viewed here, or by clicking the link on the left.
This coming weekend, I'll be running the New Jersey Half Marathon. I've already run the Full Marathon here, so I had no interest in doing that again, since it wouldn't help me in the 50 state quest. But I've only run
one Half Marathon, and that was nearly 3 years ago. I know my time there is very soft, so I've been meaning to run another
HM for a while. I had regestered for one last year, but I broke my ankle the day before the race, so obviously it never
happened. Knock on wood, I'll stay healthy for this one, and get myself that new PR.
In other news, now that Spring is here, we've been busy buying various new items for the outside of the house. So
far, we've purchased a patio set and grill. Next may be a new lawnmower. This is no surprise to the other homeowners
out there, but owning a house can be an expensive thing! Still, we enjoy the house and are happy that we bought it..

Time to run
It's almost marathon time again. I'm heading off to St Louis this weekend for my 10th marathon. The weather forecast calls for rain all day Sunday in St Louis, so it might not
be terribly pleasant. So far, I've been pretty lucky with the weather in my marathons. The hottest one was probably
the New Jersey Marathon in late April 2006. But the temp was only in the 70s, so it wasn't too bad. None of them have been too cold.
And the only rain whatsoever was in the last hour or so of the Vermont City Marathon in May 2007. But St Louis could have rain the whole way.
So will that affect my time? Hmm, maybe. But maybe not. At least it should be easy to avoid overheating.
Can I make a prediction on my time? Of course! As I've said repeatedly, I'm going for quantity over quality with
my marathons. Spacing them this close together isn't the best for getting PRs. But I know that I'm still improving,
so I do think I can threaten my best time (3:47:12, set in Birmingham a little over a year ago). I'll predict 3:50 for myself, thus falling a little short of a PR. Meh, I can live
with it.
In other news, as of yesterday, Jillian is now a year and a half old. It's amazing to me that a year and a half have already gone by. Nonetheless, I
am thrilled that she is growing up to be such a beautiful, happy kid. She really is my little angel...

Still running
I haven't run many trails before, but the Deadwood trail seems pretty tame. (I hope!) I'm sure I'll keep
that marathon nice and slow, anyway.
Well, that's the update for today. Happy Easter, everybody!

Welcome to Bob Mann's web page. I was looking around the internet recently and I thought to
myself, "Gee, there aren't enough blogs out there. What the world really needs is one more idiot throwing his every
moronic thought into cyberspace." And thus this page was born.
Of course, this site is a work in progress, and probably will remain so for quite a while.
Please feel free to poke around as much as you'd like. And please send me any comments you may have. Idiots like
me who make these sites couldn't possibly make them better without input from idiots like you!
