Welcome!

The primary goal of this site is to help Christians understand Christ's church, hereafter defined as "the assembly". If you do not know the Lord Jesus as your Savior, we invite you to stop and click here.

One of the greatest challenges that Christians face today is gaining a biblical understanding of Christ's assembly. Denominationalism, intellectualism, modernism, and traditionalism are influencing what people think about God's assembly more than Scripture. That many in the past and in recent years have already expressed this opinion is nothing new. Actually, there has been much written on the subject. Given this obvious fact we would be presumptuous to suppose that we had "a corner market" on the truth by not including writings that have blessed many and stood the test of time. Therefore, we have included selected works that we believe will enlighten the seeking heart as to the truth of Christ's assembly, which is His body.

A secondary goal of this site is to illustrate how the seminary system is a contrary means by which the Christian is to be trained in the knowledge of God. This is a heavy charge (since this system is a powerful influencer and supporter of trends and traditions in Christendom), but one we believe to be true, none-the-less. This system is contrary to God's mind because it reverses the biblical way we are to learn the truth, putting the "head" before the "heart". This winds up advancing the man on an "intellectual" basis, rather than his spiritual maturity, gift(s) and walk with the Lord. This has left many negative effects on the Body of Christ.

With these goals in mind, we invite you to consider the following questions:

  • If the Bible says that there is "one body", (Eph. 4:4) then why are there so many different denominations?
  • If in the NT, "pastor" is as a gift, not an office, then why do many churches create an "office" of the pastor?
  • If Christ is the only Person in Scripture described as the Senior Pastor (1 Pet. 5:4), why do men take this title for themselves?
  • Where in the New Testament can one substantiate the current day practice of "hiring" a pastor from outside the local assembly and giving him a fixed salary?
  • If faith in Christ is the only prerequisite for membership in the Body of Christ (Gal. 3:2; 1 Cor. 12:13,18), why do almost all churches have a system of membership for newcomers that requires more than their acknowledged faith in Christ?
  • If the early church gathered on the first day of the week "for the purpose of breaking bread" (Acts 20:7), then why do many Christians today gather for the purpose of singing, evangelism or hearing a preacher?
  • Why is there a clergy / laity distinction in Christendom when all believers are considered holy and royal priests? (1 Pet. 2:5,9)
  • Why do many Christians believe the clergy or 'the professionals on the stage' are "in the ministry," when the Bible says that all believers are "in the ministry?" (Eph. 4:12)
  • Why do Christians own other names for their ground of gathering (such as Presbyterian, Lutheran, Methodist, Evangelical, etc.) when the Bible claims the name of Christ as the sole ground in which the church meets? (Matt. 18:20; 1 Cor. 3:11)
  • Where in the Bible do we find saints authorized by a board of men to use their spiritual gifts?
  • If the early church looked to the Holy Spirit (who is a Person with His own will and, therefore, to be waited on in faith) to guide them in their worship and ministry (1 Cor. 12), why do most churches "program" their services, disregarding the Spirit's rights and liberty altogether?
  • Why is it when Christendom speaks about church leadership it always begins with man (the pastor, elders) or a form (such as congregational or Presbyterian) and not with a practical understanding of the Headship of Christ?
  • If the church is God's training ground for believers to grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ (1 Tim. 3:15; Eph. 4:11-16), what would be the ramifications of emphasizing and adopting other grounds for growth, to the neglect of the assembly itself?
  • If the system of higher Christian education (as modeled in the bible college and seminary) is a valid means for training individuals in the knowledge of God, why did Christ teach His students (the disciples) outside of the higher academic circles of His day?
  • Historically speaking, why have almost all Christian institutions of higher education departed from their fundamental Christian roots?
  • If the main object of teaching is to administer a sure, authoritative Word from God (1 Pet.4:11), then why do seminaries often produce teachers that contradict themselves regarding various doctrines, leaving their listeners with the impression that God speaks out of two sides of His mouth?

These are indeed searching questions! We invite you to explore the answers with us as we seek to respond to these and other such inquiries from God's Word.

Beyond our stated goals, it is also our desire to provide written materials that we trust will encourage believers in their walk with the Lord.

Finally, this site will not seek to substantiate its teachings based upon the research and views of the scholarly world, whose views and theologies often times seem to "raise more questions rather than further God's dispensation, which is by faith." (1 Tim. 1:4) Instead, we will assume the clarity of God's Word, the basis of our authority, and the ability of the Holy Spirit to make its contents known to those who "desire to practice His will." (John 7:17a)

We invite you to keep your Bible close, test the teachings on this site and "see if these things are so." (Acts 17:11)

Nothing but Christ,

Vin Santanelli
