Following is a timeline showing when the male Piersols of Chester County,
Pa., appear in various records. This represents all of the records that I have uncovered for the time period before about
1790.
This will prove helpful in determining chronology and possible relationships.
It will also determine whether some of the people listed in "The History and Genealogy of the Pearsall Family in England and
America" really existed. Starting in the 1720s, Chester County taxes were collected about every other year. We
still have those records and they are an excellent indication of who lived where. The tax man might miss you once but
he won't miss you two, three or eight times. If someone fails to appear in the records, he probably didn't live in the
area - at least for very long. If you compare these records to the Pearsall history, you'll notice that Volume 3 contains
more "Chester County Piersols" than those who actually lived in Chester County.
