The Sorenson family originated in Denmark and immigrated to the United States in the early 1900s.

JENS and KAREN SORENSON
Jens P. Sorenson lived in Kovborg, Denmark, in the late 1800s. (1)
Married Karen Jensen.
Children: (2)
Serena, born May 19, 1879 in Kovborg. Married Christian Friis.
Myron, born about 1884.
Peter, born about 1887.
Christian, born about 1891.
Julie. Married a Simonsen.
Another daughter who married a man named Rasmussen.
Serena immigrated to the United States in 1901 or 1902. According to the 1920 Census, her siblings followed in 1903 and 1904 and settled in Humboldt County, Iowa. Family tradition states that her parents also immigrated about the same time. (3)
The Sorensons were farmers.
(1) Names and places come from the marriage certificate of Christian Friis, who was married in January 1903 in Humboldt County, Iowa. (2) Serena’s birthday is listed on her printed funeral notice. Names of her siblings were provided by her son, Roy Fries. Myron’s birth year comes from the 1920 Census of Corinth Township, Humboldt County, Iowa. The others’ birth years come form the 1920 Census for Rutland Township, Humboldt County. (3) Immigration date for Serena comes from her 50th anniversary announcement. Other information was provided by Roy Fries.
