- Jewish World Review
- The Jewish World Review has two main topics
covered by many commentators: Israel and an
American conservative viewpoint. There are many excellent
opinion pieces written here. But they also have articles
on a spectrum of topics from scores of journalists. I receive
a newsletter from them with links to the articles of the day,
which simplifies finding what I want to read.
- Current
Viewpoint
- Another site with commentaries from the Jewish point of
view. The also have an occasional newsletter with
commentary covering Israel and the world view of it.
- Public Agenda
- Public Agenda covers many of the issues that
are being debated in the media and government, from abortion
to race to welfare. Their layout of each issue is common:
they provide you with means to understand the issues with an
overview, statistics and perspectives. The descriptions of
the issues are not very detailed, but it's purpose seems to
be only an overview to reach more people. They also provide
a list of the organizations involved in the issues. Then they
present the result of surveys on the issues.
- Opinion Pages
- Opinion Pages is an index to editorials in
various newspapers and the U.S. and the world. Further, once
you've gotten to the individual newspaper, you can then read
the newspaper, if you wish. Therefore this link could also be
in my Newspaper section.
- Hollywood
Halfwits
- Hollywood Halfwits , now part
of RightNation, provides commentary from Hollywood celebrities
that the author of this site finds to be nonsense, mostly
political comments. As the author says, these are celebrities
who are "speaking about things they know little or nothing
about, yet posturing as though they are an expert". The site
presents comments made by celebrities and articles others have
written about celebrities, mostly uncommented on by the site
author. Just their presence is usually enough of a comment.
By my mentioning this site does not mean I agree, just
that it is worthwhile to discover.
-
Computer Gripes
- This site provides a chance for people to express their
gripes about various software, hardware, and web sites.
Nothing seems to indicate that the people writing in are
really knowledgeable, but if they got problems, so might
you. Table of contents breaks it down by product or
website. Interesting to read what some have to say about some
product you use or might plan to use.
- Belief Net
- Belief Net has sections for many religions, as
well as various spiritual sections. Even sections on Wicca,
Atheism, and Agnosticism. The articles in these sections are
thoughtful, controversial, interesting, and lively. They are
diverse, extensive, and well written.
There are pertinent news stories, topical articles,
book reviews, and probing columns. You can even examine the
full text of sacred texts from Buddhism, Christianity,
Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, and Taoism.
There is much here
in comparative religion also. You can also join in on
discussions.
