- Web MD
- Web MD is one of the best sites to get health
information. The articles are well written. They have a
good search feature to find the articles. To browse click on
WebMD Health.
- MedlinePlus
- MedlinePlus is another one of the great medical
sites. It is run by the National Institute of Health, a
government institution. There's medical and drug information,
a dictionary and an encyclopedia (read on), which is very
good. Even a directory to find a doctor or dentist via links
to other sites. They've got one mistake on their home page:
there are two links to a Dictionary, the first one is really
the encyclopedia.
- Rx List is a great
place for other information on medicine, including alternative
medicine and a medical dictionary. You can also get to their
parent site Health
Central for all types of health information.
You can look up drugs at their site right here.
- Medco
- Medco is a very good site to get clear and simply laid
out information on medicine. Don't bother trying to register,
that's for customers. But you can make use of the Drug
Information, accessed via this home page, on a left column.
You can look up drugs by disease, or just the drug itself.
- Health Finder
- Health Finder has good information on health
topics, with a search engine for diseases, etc.
Unfortunately it seems to be lacking information on drugs.
- Health Touch
- There are 2 areas of Health Finder that I use:
Health Information and Drug Information. The Health
information is a little skimpy, but the drug information is
overwhelming. It's on my list for gathering additional
information not covered by the previous 2 sites.
- About Health
- A good site with general information and daily articles
on health.
- AMA
- This is the site of the American Medical Association.
What I like about this site is that you can look up the
background of any doctor associated with the AMA. This
is important information. You'll find Doctor
Finder after first clicking on 'Patients' on the left
side. There, you will also find links to information on
health topics.
