John Irvin and his family are known as the first settlers of Hat Creek, Virginia in the mid 1700's. A great deal of research has been compiled on this family line by Julia Iantha Asher and her sister Marian Cecil Asher Fawcett and published as the following book.  This book is over 6 MB in size and will be slow on dial up lines.

2. MAJOR JOHN2 IRVIN, JR (JOHN1) was born Abt. 1735 in Pennsylvania, and died 1814 in Hat Creek, Virginia. He married (1) KATHERINE P. MAXEY Bef. 1772, daughter of MAXEY and LUCRETIA TUCKER. He married (2) MARY ANN TUCKER Aug 14, 1772 in Amherst County - M/R 1 P 5, daughter of MATTHEW TUCKER and LUCRETIA CHILDERS. She was born in Amherst County, Virginia, and died 1816.
