Jack and Jake were invited back to Belgium for the 60th Anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge. This was the third combat jump for Jack. This is where Jack became "Moses". He was featured on the History Channel for his role in this battle. Jack and Jake jumped into the battle zone and were the demolition crew. There was a storm and it was really foggy. The troops were stranded. Jack's team found a brick pile and pushed him to the top. He used the Eureka beacon to send the signals needed to bring in the resupply planes. A photo was taken of him on the brick pile, which was featured in LIFE Magazine and was used on a postage stamp in Holland. Jack was known after that as Moses.
Jack Agnew is shown here with local children.
Jack has gone back to Belgium many times and has
gotten to know many of those he has saved. Jake McNeice is also shown with the children,
who are dressed as reenactors. Jake is wearing his
old uniform. The town was very crowded. My mother saw this
woman holding her sign. She read the sign and
rushed to get Jack. The woman was liberated from Daccau when she was
only 14, but had first been sent to the
concentration camp that Jack and Jake liberated at
the end of the war. I am happy to see that Jack lived long
enough to meet someone he had helped liberate.
There is a tear in his eye. The Passau Family at Bastogne. Jake and Jack visited the house where they
stayed in Bastogne. They set up headquarters on the
first and second floors. They took the photo
because the house was scheduled to be
demolished.
