Who is Jack Agnew?

Jack Agnew is one of the surviving members of the original Filthy Thirteen, the unit that the movie, The Dirty Dozen, was based upon.

Jack Agnew is one of the surviving members of the group that trained the Band of Brothers, E-Z Company.

Who am I?

His older of two daughters, and I'd like to share some of his story.

Pictured right. The interview photo was taken at Utah Beach on the 60th anniversary of D-Day, 2004. Jack is being interviewed by CNN before the presentation at Utah Beach. Jack was scheduled to be featured on The Today Show. Traffic was so bad, we had to remain at Utah Beach instead of moving to Omaha Beach, but he was interviewed by CNN instead before the formal ceremony. Many of the 60th Anniversary broadcasts were cancelled due to the death of Former President Reagan on June 5. They were broadcast throughout Europe. Jack was later interviewed by The Stars and Stripes.

Postcard from Ste. Mere Eglise, Betty is my mother's name.

The group was introduced as the "Elite of the Elite".

This is as photo and observation tour of the D-Day Invasion. We traveled with four of the original Band of Brothers and my father, one of the original Filthy Thirteen, Dad was in a unit at regimental headquarters, and his unit trained the Band of Brothers (E-Z Company. He drove the car for Sobel and quit after 2 weeks, and later for Colonel Sink. Read about him in "The Filthy Thirteen", now available in ssoft cover and in French. You can also find out more about him by watching the Academy Award Winning movie, "The Dirty Dozen" Much of that movie was true!

Update on E-Z Company and Jack Agnew:

1. Dick Winters has completed his book. I saw the draft copy on February 20, 2006. I'll keep you posted on the publication.

Dick Winters currently lives in Lancaster County, PA and is in frequent contact with Jack. At Dick's request, Jack must decline any requests for Dick's address or phone number.

2. 2005 Jack was invited by the Bay Area Terrorist Task Force to join the team in Moscow, Russia, last April. Jack was a part of an International Task Force to look at terrorism tactics at an InternationalLevel. After WW2, Jack earned a degree in Firearms Identification and has assisted local police and the FBI. He was a demolition expert in the 506.

3. Jack's original 45 is the featured display at the NRA firearms museum in Fairfax, Virginia. A discussion has been presented on The American Rifleman cable T-V program. The firearm is also featured in several magazines.

4. I have just found never before published photos from WW2. One is of the drop at Zel Am Zee, Austria in July, 1045. The others is the forced review of locals when one of the Concentration Camps was liberated by the 506. There were originally 3 photos, but 2 have "disappeared" during Jack's living history presentations.

5. The DVD, The Dirty Dozen, just re eleased in April, 2006 features a commentary, the Real Filthy Thirteen. There is an extensive interview of the original producter, who wrote the script from stories he heard, not realizing the movie was about a real stick, the Filthy Thirteen.. They were not criminals, but some had gone AWOL. Parts of the story are real, parts are not. Jack and Jake are interviewed. Lee Marvin played Jake, but I'm still unsure who played Jack.

6. Jack is featured in many magazine ads signing prints of The Band of Brothers by an artist named Shaw. It shows Dick Winters, Bill Grenerie, and others at the Battle of the Bulge. A limited number of signed prints are available with signatures from many of the Band of Brothers who are still alive. There are also several available with Jack Agnew's signature.
