Q: Who can join the American Legion?
A: To join the American Legion, you
must have served in the Armed Forces of the United States during one
of the following periods:
April 6, 1917 to November 11, 1918
(World War I)
December 7, 1941 to December 31, 1946 (World War II)
June 25, 1950 to January 31, 1955 (Korean War)
February 28, 1961 to May 7, 1975 (Vietnam War)
August 24, 1982 to July 31, 1984 (Lebanon/Grenada)
December 20, 1989 to January 31, 1990 (Panama)
August 2, 1990 to today (Gulf War/War On Terrorism
Q: Who can join the Sons of the American
Legion?
A: Men and boys who are sons of American Legion members or sons of
eligible veterans.
Q: Who can join the Boy Scouts?
A: Boy Scouting, one of the traditional membership divisions of the
BSA, is available to boys who have earned the Arrow of Light Award
and are at least 10 years old or have completed the fifth grade and
are at least 10, or who are 11, but not yet 18 years old. The
program achieves the BSA's objectives of developing character,
citizenship, and personal fitness.
