Carmi is the name I share with distant cousins, and is what my
grandchildren call me.
My designs include necklaces and bracelets made
from chains I have woven,
as well as bracelets, pendants, and earrings
using traditional techniques of
metal working.
For chains, I first fashion gold and silver wire into loops.
Borrowing a technique from the ancient Middle East, I then weave the
loops together to create intricate jewelry pieces that lay evenly and
softly when worn.
Some of my work involves a modern material, PMC® (Precious
Metal Clay), from which I craft pendants, rings, earrings, and
ornaments. The shaped pieces then are fired in a kiln, which burns
away the binder leaving pure silver objects.
I have developed my craft through
studies with Marcia Deluty, Tim McCreight,
and Jean Stark.
A native of California, I have lived in Massachusetts since 1967 and
been a member of the Clever Hand
Gallery in Wellesley since 1998.
