Oven Drawer

Powder Coating Oven Enhancement

I use an electric ex-kitchen oven. Most of the parts I coat need to hang.

The top oven rack provides ~9.5" vertically so I installed a higher top drawer, giving me ~12.5" vertically.

The full-width drawer, 3/4" x 1/8" angle iron, with a center support of 1/2" angle iron.

The drawer, designed only for hanging items, sits tight under the top element.

The aluminum bearing races,

The bearing are 3/16" (0.1875) od, the through hole was 11/64" (0.1719). Then a larger hole, #10 (0.1935),

The extension travel of the outer arm was limited by a plastic end tab, so I welded on a square metal tab. Travel of the middle arm is limited by the weld globs that replace metal end tabs.

Full-suspension ball bearing drawer slides were used.  These have 3 rails, plastic and metal races, and a plastic rail release mechanism. I replaced the plastic races (which softened and deformed during the first test heating)  with metal ones I made. The release mechanism was removed and not replaced.

The drawer bottom is expanded metal.

The expanded metal bottom allows attaching to any point of the drawer.
