D.C. Chapter of NHBW is a communication network and community based organization comprised of Black Women from the Metropolitan
Washington area. DC Hook-Up is the flagship chapter of the National Hook-Up of Black Women, Inc The Chapter
first met on December 9, 1977, at the All Souls Unitarian Church, Washington, D.C.
Serving as a communications network and community-based group comprised of Black women from the Metropolitan Washington
area, the organization has remained committed to improving the quality of life conditions in the Black community in general
and the status of Black women, in particular.
Early Accomplishments
- Organized the first library for persons incarcerated at the former DC Correctional Facilities, Lorton, VA
-Conduccted the first information cable television workshop in DC - "Monitoring the Communications Industry."
- Planned and conducted special events for senior citizens at DC Village and Medlantic Manor @ Lamond Riggs
