The Barie School Artcar
A very successful project. Students came up with their own designs and worked as a team to select and implement one design. They went on to plan and budget for the project laying out stages for project completing and a time line. Next they created a wondrous artcar learning at the same time proper workplace safety. Some of the proposals seem to be a bit funny!
Maybe some were a bit strange....
But the students planned...... And worked together well.....
The Plans emerged through deliberation and brainstorming, compromise and technological assistance.....
Something like this.....or maybe that....
And then there shall be this!!!!! A wonderful artcar with elements of many artcars from all over the country. What a vision!
Washing off the dust of decades....
Now there is a car crying out for a make over!   Kendal Went shopping..... The car dried.....
After instruction in the technology and safety of spray painting all put on masks and the transformation was begun....
Once only students now they are painters. Wash up station was hardly used.
More red paint.....More shopping for the morning....We may have to go to Virginia for the right tools.....
Can the emergence of foam indicate a new phase....
Yes! The Mohawk emerges....and we learn about spray foam technology....

The famous zig zag emerges. First carefull application of liquid nails....

Once the liquid nails is on the car it is sprayed yellow so that color will show through the gems.
Of course chain is needed around all the windows. This is glued in place with liquid nails and we learn that it needs to be supported while drying.
Pre fabrication meets fabrication. Strap on Mohawk!
It is then glued in place with more liquid nails. Handy car in the background remembers that this happened to him!
Giving foam form and learning that one has to be patient with technology as the foam cures deep within slower.
Learning how to construct patterns helps the work move along accurately
Applying the pattern
Teeth and a skull emerge while the mohawk is further trimmed back.... We learn that work goes best in stages that occur at the same time!
The Scull takes on form-detailed foam work is mastered.

Touching up around the zig zag with that famous purple paint brings close painting skills out.
