Christmas Tree Recycling
|
|
What are you going to do with your live Christmas tree when the holiday season is over?
Here are some suggestions:
- How about using your tree as a shelter for animals? All you have to do is put it out back. It takes several trees to make a good habitat, so you ask your neighbors to donate their trees to your pile. You can rotate the location of the pile every year so each person has a chance to build a habitat.
- Or you could put your tree in your pond (if you have one) for fish and other aquatic creatures to use as shelter.
There are many uses for your old tree - be creative and see what you can come up with.
Please do not put it out with your trash :-(
If you do not have an environmentally-friendly use for your live tree, recycle it!
The CCH Solid Waste District's Christmas tree recycling program will be available to all District residents between December 27, 2007, and January 31, 2008. To participate, all you need to do is to take your tree to one of the drop-off sites listed below.
In return, the trees from Carroll and Harrison counties will be shredded sometime in the spring and made available to anyone who wants to use the material for landscaping.
There are a few restrictions, however.
- Only LIVE trees will be accepted.
- Please remove all ornaments and tinsel from your tree
