Watchin’ da Game from da Levee

Exterior of Zephyr Field, Jul-1999.

The attractive double-decked seating bowl.

In addition to grandstand seating, fans have the option of sitting up on “da Levee” in right field.

Quick Facts: Rating: 3 baseballs
Zephyr Field, located not in New Orleans but in Metairie (Jefferson Parish), became the home of the Zephyrs and the A-League Storm soccer team when they abandoned the University of New Orleans’ Privateer Field.

The soccer lines were still visible on the field when I arrived on the Fourth of July in 1999, the night after a Storm game. That didn’t matter too much, though, as Zephyr Field is a respectable facility for both sports.

One drawback here is that parking costs $3 (something I really don’t care for). Tickets and concessions, however, are reasonably priced, and the concessions include some of those great “only in Nawlins” dishes like gumbo.
