Highways of Bergen County, New Jersey

Bergen County Road 40 originally connected the Passaic Street bridge between Passaic and Garfield with the Bergen Turnpike bridge between Little Ferry and Ridgefield Park. However, since the 1930s a gap has existed in the road, as the Erie Railroad crossing between Hasbrouck Heights and Teterboro is closed, and also because US 46 overlays the original CR 40 in Teterboro and South Hackensack.
