I work at the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching in Cullowhee. We work with North Carolina public
school teachers and provide week-long interdisciplinary seminars for them on a variety of topics. Seminars I provide
are: Music, Media and Violence in our Public Schools, True Life Storytelling, Teaching Every Child: Inclusion in our Classrooms,
Women of the Hills, North Carolina Mountain Ghosts, Smoky Mountain Winter Traditions, People, Places and Plots: Writing Fiction,

My favorite storyteller is Grammy Award winner David Holt. He helps me with my storytelliing workshop each

Marly Youmans is an award winning author and long time friend. She has written The Wolf Pit, Catherwood, The
Curse of the Raven Mocker, and Ingledove. Marly and I went to high school together. Both of her latest books use
her knowledge of the Smoky Mountains and the Cherokee Indians in their development.
