Chincoteague
Nature Photography displays
photographs taken near Chincoteague Island
on
Virginia's Eastern Shore. The Chincoteague area offers
numerous opportunities for nature photographs, from Chincoteague
National Wildlife Refuge to the
waters of Chincoteague Bay.
The Refuge, Bay, and neighboring
wetlands,
are home to many varieties of birds,
including herons, egrets, ibises,
ducks, swans, geese, and shore and
waterbirds. The bird populations vary over the course of the
year, with
most of the egrets and herons resident from early spring to
early fall, while ducks and snow geese begin to arrive in mid-fall and
stay throughout the winter.
At the moment, most of the photographs, which can be viewed by following the Photographs link to the left, feature these birds. There are also a number of sunsets, and a few pictures of other wildlife, including the famous wild ponies of Chincoteague. Prints are available to purchase through an arrangement with Shutterfly. (You do not need a Shutterfly account in order to make a purchase.) The prints are made from high-quality digital images, and are only sold in larger sizes when the underlying image has sufficient resolution. Please recall that computer monitors have different settings, so the color, contrast, and brightness of the actual prints may differ somewhat from what you see on your screen.
