'Fish Eyes' play returns to church stages this Lent

LINCOLN - Fisherman Follies, the theater company put together last year by Dennis LaFreniere of Cumberland and Doug Allen of Lincoln, announces the following Lenten performances of its production "Fish Eyes."

Sunday, March 1, 3 p.m., at Christ Church, Lincoln, in the Great Hall.

Sunday, March 22, 7 p.m., at St. James Church in Manville in the hall.

Saturday, March 28, 7 p.m., at Epiphany Church in East Providence.

Said LaFreniere, who plays Peter in the two-man play, "When we did it last year at Christ Church, we were expecting it to be a one-shot deal. But then we got a call from Lime Rock Baptist Church to do it last summer, and now it seems that quite a few churches are thinking it's a great thing to offer their congregations during Lent."

"We are also speaking with a couple of other churches in the Blackstone Valley," added Allen, who is Andrew in the play.

"It is a great fund-raiser for your church or group, not to mention a fantastic way of hearing about the ministry of Jesus, and we'd like to fill up the weekends during Lent to help get the word out there."

"Fish Eyes" tells the story of Jesus' ministry through the eyes of two fishermen, Peter and Andrew. It is a 90-minute production that uses familiar Bible scenes, such as the feeding of the masses, the water to wine and the Last Supper.
