We are a group of former employees of Long Island's Christian radio station WLIX-AM, which was on the air from March
1979 through October 1995.
Although we do not all belong to the same denomination or church affiliation, we do all share the same basic Christian
beliefs:
- We believe there is only one God existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
- The Bible is God's infallible, inspired Holy Word.
- We are all born with sin, and are separated from God because of it.
- We cannot save ourselves from eternal damnation, but God sent His Son, Jesus, to live a sinless life on earth and be sacrificed
as atonement for our sins.
- We have accepted Jesus as our Savior and will spend our eternity with Him.
- We have the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives here on earth.
Throughout the ministry of WLIX-AM, these same principles were evident in the music they played, in the speakers'
messages they carried, and on a more personal level in the lives of the staff members and their families. Through the
ministry of WLIX-AM, listeners were encouraged and guided in their own relationship with Jesus Christ.
Since WLIX-AM signed off in 1995, Christian radio - the music and the programming - has changed to a more modern approach,
leaving behind the music that meant so much to so many people.
We at Christian 54 Online believe the ministry of the original WLIX-AM, as it was, is still meaningful in today's world.
We felt led by The Lord to organize this internet radio station to provide encouragement through Christian music rarely heard
on today's Christian radio, and to serve as a tribute and "on air reunion" to those associated with the original "Christian
54, WLIX-AM."
