After we'd talked for a couple of minutes, I think she could sense that I was genuinely interested, and not just a reporter or whatever trying to "find" Chris. I tried asking some questions about Chris's early years, but Mrs. Barnes deflected them very nicely by telling me that Chris is a very private person and that he looks at that time of his life as just something in the past and doesn't want to go over it now. I told her I wasn't trying to pry into Chris's current life, that I was just interested in the time he worked in the entertainment industry. I asked her if he felt that way just about the BNB movies, as the story goes, or if it extended to that whole time of his life, and she once again said that, for Chris, it's in the past and he just never talks about that time, and I assumed she also meant he'd rather not have other people in his life talking about him either. I gave Mrs. Barnes my phone number and thanked her for her time.
OK, so what ever happened to Chris Barnes? The partying stopped years ago. He took some time to sort out some personal issues and then quietly got back into the entertainment business sometime in the past few years;. one of his friends told me that Chris said he was "producing" when they got together in 2004 but he didn't elaborate. I had heard talk of him working as an assistant director or some similar position but decided to wait until I'd heard it from a more reliable source before posting it here. In any event, it looks like Chris is now working behind the cameras in some capacity. I will keep you posted.
