An interesting article by D.K. Brainard titled The Tenth Planet discusses mainstream consciousness and the discovery of celestial objects. Brainard, the astrologer who published this article, is interestingly from New Orleans. The very idea that I noticed that fact is an example of the consciousness link that Brainard discusses in this article. Brainard posits the possibility that mass consciouness brings new planets, Kaiper Belt Objects (KBO) and asteroids into mainstream consciousness because the objects are indicative of what is occuring in the mass consciousness of our planet.
This hypothesis reaches into the quantum mechanical world where everything is affected by the observer. We use the word "observer" in many ways, from the uniquely spiritual concept of stepping outside of ourselves to observe ourselves...to scientific quantum observation of experiments...and to the highly indicative conscious wording about what we do when we look at or see celestial objects. We are "the observer" at multiple levels.
Ian Lungold of Mayan Majix said, "what we focus our attention on is what we become aware of" (sic). Why not discover new celestial objects that we aptly name mythological names that indicate whatever mass consciousness pervades? The logic of that is supreme and perfect; it shows that consciousness is not only individual but all-pervading; it indicates perfect order. The natural world is about perfect order
It's not necessary to believe anything. With our naivete training firmly in place, however, it may be necessary to suspend disbelief if one wishes to explore the potentiality of life.
