Football cards first appeared in 1935 when the National Chicle Comapany included 36 of them in packs of gum.   No further cards were produced until 1948 when the Bowman Gum Company, Leaf Gum Company and the Topps Chewing Gum Company began producing sets.  Penn Staters were included in all three of these '48 sets.  Click on "OLDIES"  to see some of them.

My collection will never be a complete one because some of the cards I will never own due to rarity, and because each year Penn State sends out new players to the pros.  I only desire to own one card of each player in a pro uniform,  regardless of condition, year of issue, card company, value or rarity.  I have included some of my favorites under the "FAVES" and "PAIRS"  pages.

For a little fun and to see some of the odd stuff and latest additions, check out the "ETC" page.

Penn State has a legendary head coach.  See some of his cards and accomplishments on the "JOEPA" page.

If you would like to see a list of cards in my collection or a list of cards I am looking for, see the "LISTS" page.  Any comments, questions or offers of help?  Send me some email.  If you would like to see a particular card which I have, I can scan it and send it to you in an email.

LISTS Penn State Trivia The reverse of my 1975 Topps card states:  "One of the most celebrated college players in recent years, he was a 2-time All-America and first in Penn State history.  In 3 varsity seasons he caught 86 passes for 1343 yards and 10 TDs."        See the LISTS page for the answer.
