Selection Method for Junior Development Team 2007

Initial selections were based on year 2006 end of year rankings on Orange and above. All Juniors ranked at the Gold, Silver, or Bronze level in their age class received letters nominating them to the team. Only those who have responded with an acceptance and their USOF membership information are listed.

Secondary selections were based on the results of the most recent US Individual Championships and Interscholastic Championships. Any Junior placing in the top three in a Championship class on Orange or above who was not already named to the team was added. Additionally, those Juniors who were selected to the JWOC team also received nominations.

In accordance with the USOF rules, additional selections may be made throughout the year based on nominations received from regional or local USOF members. Juniors may nominate themselves. To nominate a Junior please send an email to the appropriate regional coach. If the coaching spot in your region is vacant, then send your nomination to the National Team Leader.

Please include in your nomination email:

The Junior's name, club, age and results supporting the nomination
(A-meets, B-meets, Local meets - anything that shows dedication and competitive performance for at least the club level)
Your club and position, USOF Membership number, relationship to the nominee.
Anything else you want to add supporting the nomination

52.2  The US Junior Development Team is a designated group which exists to recognize and support promising competitors 14-20 years of age and to promote and encourage the highest possible competitive standards among US orienteers and.

52.2.1 The team staff personnel are:

a)      The Team Leader, who is the administrative and overall head of the Team. 
b)      The Team Coach, who is in charge of Team training and development. 
c)      Any additional subordinate personnel appointed by the Team Leader. 

52.2.2 The Team Leader and Team Coach will be appointed each calendar year by the VP of Competition. 

52.2.3 Each year a three person committee composed of the Team Coach, the Team Leader or designate, and the VP of Competition or designate will select the members of the Team.

52.2.4 The selection is based on: 

a)      Competitive Results and National Rankings
b)      Dedication to the sport of Orienteering. 
c)      Demonstrating a sporting attitude.
d)      Nomination by Regional or Local USOF members.

52.2.5 Team members must be members of USOF, at least 14 years of age, and run at the Orange level or higher.

52.2.6    The Team Coach may add or remove team members at any time except during the selection of the Team Leader and Team coach.
