Rose's Page

This is my sweetie, Rose. (The one without the hat.) I have truly learned what God meant when He told Adam that man should not be alone. In the near future, she will be getting her own little corner of the web to talk about what she likes. (By the way, the one with the hat is Fluffy, the eldest of our two cats. When she heard that there was a mouse on the computer, she demanded to be included.)

Back in 1997, Rose was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. After a course of chemotherapy she went into remission. After about a year there was a slight relapse which was discovered during a routine cat-scan in August of 1999. There was a small lump under her arm. Our doctor recommended treatment with Rituxan, a new monoclonal antibody. As of mid January 2000, the oncologist could not feel the lump under her arm. She recently had a cat scan and we are awaiting the results. Thanks for your prayers, stop back for updates, or e-mail us.

Update 7/29/02 Everything is ok. The last cat scan (about 5 months ago) showed a few lymph nodes, but they were not swollen. Toward the end of August, Rose will be having another CT scan and a PET scan to detect if any of the nodes are cancerous. Stay tuned.

Update 10/23/02

Rose just had a visit with the oncologist. The PET scan came back negative, thank God. She is doing well. Her liver count is a bit high, so she is going to have a bone scan this week. Probably just the onset of arthritis. More to come.

Update 2/28/05

Rose has been cancer free for over 5 years now. She just had a CAT scan and there is nothing to report. No news is good news. She is doing well and we are encouraged that God is able to keep us healed. Praise the Lord!

Update 2/24/07

We are sad to report that Rose's latest scan showed some lymph nodes in her torso. She will be starting the rituxan treatments this Wednesday. We are fully confident that God is in control. Please read 2 Corinthians chapter 4, and keep us in your prayers. More to follow.

Update 5-28-07

Rose has completed a round of four monoclonal antibody treatments. She is doing well and will have a cat scan in July to determine if the lymph nodes have shrunk. She feels as though one in her torso that was up against her ribs is gone. Check back for more updates.

Update 7-20-07

Rose's scan showed that the lymph nodes are shrinking, praise the Lord. She will have another scan in 6 months, and might begin taking a Rituxan vaccine to prevent further flare ups.

Update 10-10-08 (Long overdue)

I missed a few updates over the past year. Rose relapsed back in Feb. with a lymph node appearing in her abdomen. After doing a biopsy to be sure the cancer had not morphed into something else, she went for a double round (8 treatments) of Rituxan. After a recent PET scan, all she had were some "beads". She will start a regimen of maintenance treatments of Rituxan (2 treatments, three times a year) to keep the lymphoma in check. We thank God that she is still ok.
