The (unanimously passed & completely legal) bylaw amendment that infuriated the Antiochian Archdiocese hierarchy and their lawyers

19.   Compensation:  All the said members of the Parish Council, with the exception of the Proistamenos Priest, shall perform their duties free of compensation.

A.     Severance Package:    Any priest that has served at this parish for at least 5 years will receive 2 weeks total inclusive compensation for every year of service and health insurance for 6 months or until obtaining health insurance from another parish.  (Added  5/17/05)

That's right ----

A severance package.  To take care of hard working priests who find themselves out of work and starving due to uncaring laity or hierarchs.  (St. John's in Fort Wayne has had 9 priests in 25 years).

That is what this whole thing is about.  Pride and lust of power on the part of hierarchs who should be leading the flock in demonstrating Christian love and humility.

Instead, they are starving an innocent, pious priest, and will try to find an excuse to laicize him.

This kind of activity brings nothing but SHAME to American Orthodoxy.

The Orthodox Christians of this country expect more from their brothers and hierarchs.  Parish councils, priests and hierarchs must be held accountable for their actions.

We know men by their fruits; let the whole world see their works.

Lord have mercy on us all.

So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all men,
and especially to those who are of the household of faith.  Gal. 6:10
