What's New in Math at St. Columba?
February 15, 2009
I recently attended the Pennsylvania
Educational Technology Expo & Conference. After talking with other
educators (elementary through college), I feel that in addition to
computer based resources, a graphing calculator is one of the best
educational investments that can be made. Because of their
upgradability, they can meet student needs all the way through college
and beyond.
I have begun introducing 7th
and 8th grade to the Texas Instruments TI-83 plus graphing
calculators owned by Saint Columba. 5th and 6th
grade will soon be using them also. This isn't a commercial for
Texas Instruments, but just about all textbooks I have seen, including
the books used at Saint Columba, base their calculator lessons around
the TI-83 and TI-84 calculators. If you would like more
information you can visit the
Texas Instruments website.
The Math Club will meet on April 23.
