EDENS CEMETERY

TUPPER'S CREEK, KANAWHA CO., WV

This is the Cemetery that we visited and decorated ever since I was a child.  When I was a child Grandpa James McMillion, his son Joseph and daughter Ora were buried there, and those were the graves we decorated.  I remember going with my mother, grandmother and some of my aunts.  Grandma would get lilacs, snowballs, and roses from the plants she had in her yard and decorate the graves with them.  The cemetery is near the top of a hill surrounded by woods, there is no fence surrounding it nor is there a cemetery sign. * When I last visited I counted approximately 2 dozen graves without markers.  Most had fieldstones, but some never even had stones to mark them.  On my last visit (May 1998) I put markers on the graves of Grandma,  Oley McMillion, Ora McMillion, and Joseph McMillion's graves.  I also had markers for my Great-grandparents Emily and Elijah McMillion's graves.

*We put up a sign a few years ago.  My son made a sign out of treated lumber and routed in the name of the cemetery. It is a very sturdy sign which should last a long time. I planted purple iris flowers around the sign. And we are having small granite markers made for Grandma, Grandpa, Oley, Ora and Joseph's graves. They should be up there by Memorial Day this year (2008).
