Q. What models have Throttle-by-wire?

For 2008-'09 only the touring models, Road King, Road Glide, and Electra Glide.

Q. Can I use any handlebar on those models?

No, most of the time they will not work properly even if they are modified to fit the sensor because one side is longer than the other.

Q. Will Cyclesmiths handlebars look and feel these same as the others?

Yes. While the construction of the handlebar is different, the appearence and dimension will be the same as previous years models.

Q. Will I need to extend the wires in the throttle position sensor?

Only for 16" rise handlebars. NAMZ and Barnett both make wire extension kits in 4 different lengths. It is not uncommon to extend sensors throughout the automotive industry, and for taller handlebars it will be needed. You can also use common splicing rules.

1. Use solder not connectors.

2. Use proper gauge wire.

3. Insulate with shrink tube.

4. Test resistence and conductivity before and after splicing.

Q. Can I run internal wiring with the new bars?

Yes. In fact you no longer have the option, you must run internal wires.

Q. What about ABS?

Handlebars will bolt up to bikes with ABS, however lengthening the brake hose is the issue at this time. We recommend you contact your local dealer for the latest information about ABS hose replacement.

Q. Can I use heated grips with TBW?

Yes, however Harley Davidson heated grips will not work. A company called Hot Grips makes a heated grip (PN 475-100) that they say will work with TBW and Cyclesmiths handlebars.
