Ukrop's is the leading grocery chain in Richmond. They began here in 1937 and were relatively small until the 1970's. The original store building as listed in my 1941 City Directory was at 3607 Hull Street; due to renumbering, that address is now 3107 and is just beyond the 3111 Hull Street location shown below.

7828 Midlothian Turnpike, Buford Shopping Center

9600 Patterson Avenue

This Ukrop's on Patterson Avenue was closed on January 28, 2006. Opened in 1975, it is an excellent remaining example of how Ukrop's stores of the period appeared, especially the signage.

7803 Midlothian Tunpike, 60 West Shopping Center

In 1972, this store replaced the Buford Shopping Center location; it is directly across Midlothian Turnpike in the 60 West Shopping Center. Although the facade and store has been modernized, it retains some of the feeling of the late 1960's-early 1970's Ukrop's in the interior. It is now scheduled to be closed in June, 2006.
