President Kirk called the meeting to order at 12:30 pm. followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and Rand leading us in prayer.
Kirk read congratulations from Lee Ahlum and Ron Errett for being the first club to have our money in for the “Every Rotarian, Every Year” campaign, and also for being the highest average contribution $132 per person.
Kirk also received the Rotary Foundation power point for Polio Eradication. It was suggested that when we do our fundraiser that we have them showing for all to see.
Ron now has the applications for the World Affairs Institute and will follow-up to get the names of the 2 or 3 students and 1 chaperon to attend the Wed, Nov 18th meeting.
Kirk passed out some information on how to protect yourself against the H1N1 Swine Flu.
We confirmed the details of the upcoming Smoke Detector Give-a-Way. We’ll be using the 30 or so that the Edinboro Fire Department received from the Dept of Health to give out. We’re to meet at the firehouse Tuesday at 6:30 pm. Matt Seagren, Chief of the EVFD said that they would have a truck out for the kids to see, and people to give tours. Plus they’ll also have some fire prevention stuff to hand out.
The Road Cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, Oct 31st at 8:00 am. Meet at the northwest corner of the parking lot in front of Giant Eagle on Rt. 99. The more the merrier and the easier it will be. Plus, we’ll get done quicker. Ron said he’ll get more gloves and bags from the DOT.
Kirk also asked Ron to follow-up with Craig Walker on becoming a Rotarian.

October 12th, 2009 Lunch Meeting
Program:
Members present: Jim, Ron, Dave, and Kirk
We didn’t have a formal meeting, but did discuss the AMBA Blood Screening Event and Health Fair. Everyone agreed that it went well. The nursing school did a fabulous job. Too bad the numbers were down.
We talked a little about bringing our “stuff” that we want to get rid of to an auction, and then donating the proceeds to the Polio Plus challenge. Hopefully, next week we can get this moving.
Dave ordered (4) medallions for the Paul Harris fellowship award.
Upcoming meetings:
Although we didn’t pick a Saturday for the Highway Clean-up we will have to choose. Some possibilities are 10/24 or 10/31. Please check your calendars and let us know which is best for you. Unfortunately, I’ll be out of town on a backpacking trip on 10/24, so maybe 10/31 would work for everyone. Please check your calendars and let me know next week, 10/19 or via e-mail.
In two weeks, we’ll have a speaker from the Erie County Library.
Good of the Order:
I would like to thank everyone for helping out, and doing a yeoman’s job. A special thanks to Ron for taking on the responsibility to make sure everything went smoothly. No small task. Thanks, Ron.

October 5th, 2009 Lunch Meeting
Program:
President Kirk called the meeting to order at 12:30 pm, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, an invocation given by Rand Edwards.
Members present: Steve, Rand, Ron, Shelly, Art, Dave, and Kirk
President Kirk confirmed that we will be presenting the “Home Safe Home” campaign at the Edinboro Elementary School on Thursday, 10/8 at 10:15 and again at 10:30 to the two Kindergarten classes of about 40+ students each. If you want to help, be at the school at 10 am on Thursday. Kirk will find out what literature is available to present to the children and for them to take home to their parents. Kirk will make sure he confirms with Ms Sally Wagner, the principal as well.
President Kirk also confirmed with Matt Seagren, Chief of the Edinboro Fire Departments that we will be distributing the smoke detectors on Tuesday, October 20th, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
Ron reminded us about the set-up at the church for the AMBA Blood Screening event on Friday, 10/9 at 4:00 pm. Everyone should try to be at the church Saturday morning at 5:30 am since people should start arriving around 5:45 am. Kirk will contact Denise Lif from Dr. Lichtinger Family Chiropractic to remind her about coming early to set-up.
Dave presented a possible fund raising campaign sell Green Mountain Coffee for $10 a bag. We make $3/bag. Dave will complete the survey in the affirmative and return it.
Dave also offered to host a Paul Harris Recognition Dinner at his house on Sunday Nov 15th to honor the latest recipients, Art and Kirk, as well as all other Paul Harris Fellows. Dave asked that you bring your favorite dish to pass. Dave also pointed out that we now have 8 Rotarians that are Paul Harris Fellows, that’s two thirds of our membership. Our goal is to have 100%!
Regarding the Paul Harris Fellowship awards, Dave asked if he could order (4) medallions for the Paul Harris fellowship award, and everyone agreed it would be a good idea.
Again, we were successful in our “Every Rotarian, Every Year” with everyone participating, and the average contribution being over $100. A hearty congratulation goes out to everyone for participating.
