Virginia Firearms Education and Marksmanship, Inc

Virginia Firearms Education & Marksmanship, Inc. (VFEMI) is a tax-exempt organization affiliated with the Civilian Marksmanship Program and dedicated to the shooting sports.  Although we focus our energies on the rifle shooting discipline, shooters of all interests are welcome

We offer programs for all levels of interests and abilities.  We are particularly interested in involving junior shooters to help perpetuate the sport.

We conduct our practice sessions on the range complex on the Quantico Marine Corps Base, VA, one of the premier shooting venues in the nation.

Individuals and teams from VFEMI compete in matches throughout the region and at the national championships at Camp Perry, Ohio.

So what shooting opportunities does VFEMI offer you?

Across the Course or National Match style shooting consists of phases at 200, 300, and 600 yards from various shooting positions.  You may participate as an individual shooter or as a member of a 4 person team ( 6 persons at the national matches ).  Firing is conducted with either match or service rifle.

Infantry Team style shooting is a 6 person team match, fired with the service rifle, rapid fire from 600, 500, 300, and 200 yards.

Long Range is fired by individuals and teams at ranges of 600 yards and beyond.  Rifles can be match or service.  Some matches allow the use of optics.

Springfield/Garand matches are for shooters who want to have fun with their obsolete military rifles like the Springfield M1903 and M1 Garand.

In addition to excellent coaching and instruction available at each practice session, we offer two formal clinics early in the shooting season.  If you are new to the sport, our introductory clinic will expose you to the rules, equipment, shooting positions, and techniques of rifle shooting in a competitive environment.  For more experienced shooters we offer an advanced clinic, focused on helping you elevate your skills to championship level.  Both clinics involve classroom instruction and live fire. Our instructors/coaches have all undergone NRA training and certification. Either clinic qualifies you to purchase surplus military firearms through the Civilian Marksmanship Program.

As you develop your skills, you may be offered the opportunity to fire as a VFEMI team member at the national championships. You may also enter the national championships as an individual shooter. In either case, VFEMI can help coordinate your participation.

Come on out and shoot with us. It’s fun. It’s safe. It’s challenging. You will benefit from what we have to offer and VFEMI and the shooting sports will benefit from your participation.
