Nature Coast Chapter of the
Florida Native Plant Society
Overview The purpose of the
Florida Native Plant Society is the preservation, conservation, and restoration of the native plants and native plant communities
of Florida. The Nature Coast Chapter educates Pasco County citizens interested in learning more about Florida native plants
and their habitats. We learn how landscaping with native plants in our own backyards benefits the environment. By using native plants we conserve water, eliminate
the need for chemicals, reduce our maintenance, and provide habitat for wildlife. Your landscape will be unique and interesting.
It’s easy and it’s fun!
Chapter Meetings are held
the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. at St. Marks Church Fellowship Hall at 7922 State Road 52 in Hudson (one mile
west of Little Rd. on the south side of SR 52 next to St. Michael’s Catholic Church). Each meeting features a guest
speaker. There is an information/sales table, delicious refreshments and a native plant raffle.
Field Trips are very diverse.
We try to provide something for everyone. We may visit one of the area parks or preserves or trail blaze through breath taking
native ecosystems. We also plan trips to native plant nurseries.
Community Activities are a
part of chapter activities
including March for Parks, Dade City Spring Fest,
Crews Lake Earth Day, and Founders Day Celebration. We provide educational literature, nursery information
and offer books for the native plant gardener and native plants for sale at each event.
The Nature Coastline is our
chapter's bimonthly published newsletter. In the Nature Coastline you will find information and updates on our field trips
and speakers, an occasional recipe, conservation and environmental issues, and information on other related activities in
the local area.
