Honest Monkey Speaks 2005

Tuesday, December 14, 2005

Honest Monkey is amazed sometimes about the recent and ongoing "controversy" that "liberals" are trying to "do away" with the celebration of Christmas. One reason that this is odd is that Christmas was originally a pagan celebration, begun thousands of years before anyone mentioned Jesus, and originally routinely condemned by Christians. You don't have to believe me, it's well documented, and there are tons of links on the net (see a few below).

Honest Monkey fears for our country (the United States of America, for those of you who may be coming here from outside the states). The reason? Deborah Davis of Denver, Colorado, refused to show her ID while riding public transport (a bus). HM was brought up to believe that one never needed to show ID for simply walking down the street, or as in this case, riding public transit. This is not Nazi Germany. HM's father fought in the second World War just so HM himself would not be subjected to tyranny like this. You may think this is a small thing, but it is not. That the police involved ever thought they could do such a thing boggles Honest Monkey's mind. That this could happen, and worse, people think it was okay, sends chills down HM's spine.
