Here is a video that EFF recomended that Honest Monkey found interesting. Apparently there are different versions of the Constitution laying around, and Bush and Co. have the abbreviated one, I guess.
YouTube video of MSNBC newscastBush has won. The Constitution is officially defunct. USA Today reports that the NSA is collecting a huge database together of all the phone calls everyone in America is making. So that's about it for the first and fourth amendments. I guess it was nice while it lasted.
USA Today articleBrief update on Microsoft trying to screw Honest Monkey out of 75 dollars. They were successful. HM wrote them and said that he did indeed send them the correct box top, and in reply he got a copy of the same letter they sent the first time. Thanks, Microsoft, for NOTHING, you cheats!
Microsoft it trying to screw Honest Monkey out of 75 bucks. When you send in your rebate, you generally have to send in the UPC on the box. HM did this. However, he receives a letter saying that he needs to send them the box top with the UPC. How can he do this? HE'S ALREADY SENT IT! This kind of upset Honest Monkey. He sent a letter back indicating this. Will let you know how it turns out.
More news about Bush's illegal spying program. A reminder: this is a program that is aimed at spying on American citizens without a warrent. It has likely spied on 5000 Americans, and has likely yielded no useful information. I'm not sure what part of the fourth amendment Bush does not understand:
Amendment IV - The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
Various links: an AP article, LA Times, Christian Science Monitor. The Washington Post had a good article today as well, but viewing online requires registration.
Sen. Specter Believes Spy Program Violates Law (AP)That President George Bush is a liar is becoming more and more undeniable. It now turns out that back in June, 2002, the Bush administration refused to support a bill that would have weakened FISA rules, the same rules they now say are too onerous! It amazes me that after all the lies that have come out of Bush and his cronies he's not yet been impeached and jailed. See the link below for more info and comments. Also see the link to a New York Times editorial on the warrantless wiretaps. It's well written and goes into detail about each of Bush's point defending this illegal program.
