A Little About Me....

I am 41, divorced and live in east central Pennsylvania, southern Schuylkill County, 30 miles north of Reading, the Outlet Capital of the world!

I have received numerous questions as to if the divorce is because of my weight loss or surgery. Please let me assure you that I had asked for a divorce long before I even knew about weight loss surgery.

I have a 16 year old daughter whose favorite interests are boys, boys, soccer, and more boys. She spends every 2 weeks with me and 2 weeks with her father. She is the joy of my life (even if she is a teenager! LOL) If you want to know more about her, you can check out her web page by clicking HERE .

I have THE cutest kitty in the world named Michelle "schelle" .

My interests include singing, mountain biking, shopping, organizing and running a social group, and feeling and looking great!

Here is a little story about one of my milestones in my journey....
(written 3/10/99 at 4 1/2 months post-op)

I went to the women's department at Sears to try on some dresses and found a handful I loved. I started out with a 20W of each and narrowed my choice down to a beautiful forest green dress with off-white flowers on it. It was too big...so I went down to an 18W......then a 16W......looked for a 14W and they didn't have one. While talking to the department worker she recommended I go over to the regular misses department and look there. I looked at her incredulously, but decided it couldn't hurt. I pulled out 2 dresses that looked like they were cut big enough in a size 18 and dragged them into the dressing room, totally overwhelmed by the selection in "regular" size dresses AND the fact that *I* was shopping there. I felt very self-conscious, thinking all the "skinnies" were staring at me wondering what SHE was doing shopping in THIS department.

Anyway....the first dress I tried on was too tight....It was a thin cut long dress with a knit jacket over it. The dress part wouldn't go over my stomach and waist. The second dress I tried on....not only FIT......but looked GOOD....DAMN good...lol. I started sobbing right there in the dressing room...took myself OUT of the dressing room and asked anyone in sight if it REALLY looked okay and wasn't too tight. They were all smiling and grinning along with me and saying, "YES, it REALLY looked good" lol. I'm such a nit sometimes...lol

THEN...I went to Payless shoe store....I HAD to get new shoes to go with the new dress, yanno....and just out of curiosity, I pulled out a pair of navy blue high heel pumps in a size 10.....not a size 10 WIDE...but a regular size 10....and they not only FIT.....but felt COMFORTABLE! Before that I was wearing a size 11 WIDE. Since there was a sale - buy one, get the second pair at half price, I bought the same pair of shoes in both black and navy...W00H00...2 pair of shoes for $15.00 :) Gotta love them sales.

My stats...I've gone from 286.5 to 210 lbs in a little over 4 months. INCREDIBLE! I've lost over 75 lbs and have only 10 more lbs to go before I'm in the 1XX club. I haven't been this thin since my early 20's...if not teens (I am 37 now.) I am totally in awe over how this surgery has changed my life and how I feel and look. I'm still in shock!
