Why does the media refuse to cover these issues?

Does anyone care?

Does it matter that corruption shows itself in the history of this Sheriff’s administration? Does it matter that the code of Virginia was set aside for the personal benefit of the sheriff’s relative? Does it matter that an inmate died after he was left in a visitation booth for six hours on June 6, 2007? Does it matter that the Sheriff’s staff released an inmate from jail on May 29, 2007 while he had a 240-month sentence to serve on Federal gun charges? Does it matter that individuals employed by the current sheriff work the polls in plain clothes while displaying their sheriff badges on chains around their necks? Does it matter that other deputies were paid overtime to cover the posistions for the deputies that took the day off to work the polls?

The answer is NO! when it comes to the good ole boys of Chesterfield County.

According to Dennis Proffitt, “We are the government and we can do anything we want.”

This comment was made to the same deputy who logged the incident with the Sheriff's cousin's house. They were speaking about policy development. It was not made in reference to the paragraph above it: however, I contend that is the general regard that this administration has towards the obligations of the Sheriff’s office.

I received a call today stating that I must remove this comment before tomorrow because I am breaking the law if I quote someone without providing a source. She called on 6-18-2007 from 804-225-7781 at 2:45 pm. from a business name of Lythos left on my caller ID. Sounds like someone is trying to shut me up and put me in my place.

The deputy that I saw wearing his badge asked me not to fire him if I was elected in November. My answer to him and the other deputies of the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office is, I expect you to do what you need to do in order to maintain your job as long as that does not violate the laws of our Commonwealth or the trust of our citizens.

My whole life I have stood up to bullies and bigots and I vow to continue the fight against corruption and business as usual in our government.

The government cannot do anything they want on my watch. I am not going away and I am not going to shut my mouth and remember my place. We are the people!

OK...I am sorry...didn't mean to offend anyone.
I have never been involved in politics before and I already don't like it....there are so many lies and deception it is unbelievable.  I would like to disappear and come back when it is all done.  I am not good at confrontation, lies and deceit but that is just one of the things during an election.  I think they should be appointed like the Chief of Police and Fire.

This response shows the stress that the employees of Dennis Proffitt are under and their desire for it to end.
