Iam not going to keep doing this webpage. There is alot more better uses of my time working on different other webpages over this. The point is that there are perhaps none or a handfull of Maple Shade bungalows built past October 1929- the start of the Great Depression. If you have a bungalow in question and want more information then email me at- densdoor@verizon.net -den

Maple Shade Bungalow Dates

Or Specifically, "Is there any bungalows built in Maple Shade AFTER October 1929?"

So far, looking at the Sanborn Insurance Maps of 1923 and 1929, I have only found one and it has a Dutch style roof, but could fall under "bungalow."
It's Leddon's old house, on the corner of Helen Ave. and S. Forklanding Rd.
It was not there on the Oct. 1929 Sanborn map, but the Twp. has it as 1925! Wrong.

BTW- Maple Shade Township has done a disgraceful job of dating the bungalow homes. You have to throw into this equation- One Tax Assessor went to jail. One resigned when indicted. During the Depression the Twp. was under the State's control and had the highest tax rate of any township in Burlington County. This plus whatever else went on, maybe some folks didn't want the old records around or something. ??

OR Iam trying to make too much out of just plain old ignorant guesswork. (old records not looked at). I notice Moorestown has some blunders in theirs as well. I think it was Fred Barlow's obit which said he knew when every house in town was built and who it was built for. This was to an extent true I would think.

This website was used to obtain the Maple Shade Twp. Tax Assessor's Office dates-
I cannot quarantee these as correct but I believe it where they got them. http://www.zillow.com/

332 South Lippincott Ave,. On Aug. 1923 Sanborn Insurance Map, Twp. dated as- 1900, Would doubt it because...
Sure it looks like it could have been an old farm help house for the Bleam farm, but it so parallell and perpendicular to Lippincott and Frederick Aves. The Bleam house is angled from our Main Street and probably predates it, possibly going back to Ephraim Stiles or son Thomas Stiles, then owned by his son William Stiles. (1700s) Our Lippincott Avenue wasn't even a "paper road" until 1912 to 1914. So I would doubt. most of these early 1900s claims.
