Mechanical

Below is the mechanical parts of the operation, the encoders have knurled diameters and spring tension to keep them

in constant contact and to prevent slippage. The altitude decoder swings out of the way for removal of the scope from the base . All worm gears are spring loaded and can be backed away for manual operation of the scope. As for the azimuth rotation I used a round 10" Lazy Suzan bearing, this required machining two plates that keep the mating parts of both halves of the scope base aligned, boring a central hole helped keep them aligned.
