Grinding & Polishing Tools

The Grinding tool was fabricated out of 4" square unglazed floor tiles cut on a table saw with a masonry cutting disc.  The tool is 2 1/2" thick, extra slots for the slurry were cut in the tiles using a circular saw with a masonry disc. Because of the deep sagitta this was useful because the difference from center to the edge was over .200" and helped in not having to pre-generate the plaster casting of the blank for the mirror.

The Polishing Tool was fabricated out of 3 layers of plywood and covered in water proof epoxy.  the polishing grooves were made by using a net from onion bags and pressed with a 5 gallon bucket of water placed on top to get full contact.
