| 1986 Regular Season: Redskins (14) vs. 49ers (6) at RFK, MNF |
| Quality: Very Good |
| This is a Monday Night Football game and Dexter Manley had been in the papers all week. He said, in mixed metaphor fashion, that he was going to "ring Montana's clock." Well, I guess he made good on the threat, as early on in the game he indeed rings SOMETHING of Montana's with a vicious hit that causes the HOF QB to fumble.
The Redskins struggle offensively, but not as much as the niners, who never get into the end zone. The Redskins pull this one out 14-6. Darrell Green on Jerry Rice for the whole game makes for some interesting moments, especially since both guys were absolutely in their prime. Another great highlight is hearing the "We Want Dallas" chant erupt as the game is nearing completion (The 'Skins destroy Dallas in the next game). |
